Postcards

An editorial project by instaura

We scan territories, districts, formal and informal groups, searching for actions that let us improve the relation between people and spaces, an issue that lately makes a great impact.

The uncontrolled spread of concepts, words and images about this matter and all of its facets raises a need for clarity and simplicity that requires an ability to go deep and synthetize. For this reason, we are committed to find those ideas and solutions that, on a human scale, answer the following questions: How to do it? and How did it go that time? We always try to make incursions into unusual areas and locations, and into unfamiliar areas of study and interest.

We do that because, as architects and designers that deal with build environment, we are called to observe and listen to the people that live in it and experience it.

Authorities and the majority of critics focus on the grandest projects that promise to change the urban organism in one shot or radically. On the other hand, we know that people are truly interested in the air that they breath, in the noises they deal with, in the best way to get from A to B, in the little green oasis for the community.

We sincerely believe in the value of these needs and we feel that the solutions that may satisfy them or offer alternative visions are the new monuments of the built environment. They are the treasure that we prey during our expeditions. This is why we hope that in the future there will be civic and legal respect for them, as for our national monuments, that the people that are involved may be heard and even paid for taking care of them, and that someone will be writing books on them, or even writing Cartoline, as a start.

We send out Cartoline on Tuesday!

Post Scriptum:

By definition, the cartolina is an open correspondence. Open because, in the literal sense of the word, -it can be read by anyone,- but also because, in a broad sense, it is a message that keeps the discussion alive, even from distant places -

That’s why the cartoline are to be:
